 Hallo!! Rachael came up with this amazing idea that we should make videos / vlogs, for our days plan when in correlation to the film, our editing, and just regular updates on our progress. Ill insert our first video blog below - If you couldn't tell we had a bit of a hard time keeping it together, this was actually our 15th take and we had to actually circle my neighborhood for quite a while before we got it perfect. However! we thought you might appreciate a bit of humility rather than robotic perfection.

 After some chatting me and Rachael (my partner!) decided that with her doing the acting, ill do most of the editing. Rachael will focus on adding the credits, making the production label and finding music, while I will take on clip stitching, trimming, and cutting and adding title screen. I will also adjust tone and coloring of clips as well as ensuring smooth transitions between them! The plan is to insert the credits (e.i. actor names, music credit, director, other workers) in the second scene once its transitions past title screen, the lighting / tone will be darkened and seem hazy during instances that Sarah (the main character) is going through withdraws, and brighten in the moments following. For less tense scenes the cuts will be smoother/gradual, while for the more intense (the POV switching between Sarah and her mother) they will be harsher, faster cuts. 

 Hair wise we want it to give, "just thrown up, don't really care."    For make up we are going to really distinguish her cheekbones/make them look carved in as if she were really skinny since this is usually an effect of hard drugs. We are also going to darken her under eyes to give off the effect of exhaustion / being warn down  

 Our concept goal for Sarahs outfit since we will only need one - is for when she's at home and should be her most comfortable. Oversized clothing such as shirts sweaters or sweats. In the movie scenes that will be shown she will be in an oversized dark hoodie and shorts. I'll insert some inspiration pictures below! All these pictures would be similar to what Sarah would wear on a daily basis

Planned Script for Her Slow Disappearance Scene 1: POV shot of Sarahs mother walking into the bathroom. Shower running in the background as her mother is examining the drugs and paraphernalia on the counter top - turns to the running shower knocking as she call out to Sarah. Camera shot see only her feet/legs motionless on the shower floor.   Scene 2: Scene cut to flashback (the movie will take place as a flashback until it catches up with the scene of her dead in the bathroom) Cut order - - Sarah asleep, top view of her turning to the side. - cut, camera has followed to a front view of the direction she turned in the first shot as she slowly opens eyes. Single shot continues, panning to the left / following her eye movements. - cut to shot of the night stand next to her bed, her hand can be seen opening the drawer reaching in and pulling out empty bag of what was filled with cocaine previously -camera pans along with the bag in hand, shot ends on Sarahs face.  -cut, he...

 ~Mood Board~ In this mood board I will be finding images that portray a vibe that is melancholic, nostalgic, depressing and heavy in some scenes yet airy and light in others: This is the mood board that my partner Rachael Kohler made, she used a couple of films that I listed in my Inspiration board post e.g. Euphoria and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I like these images in showing Sarah's despair and sense longing for a better life - a lot of these images scream, "I am lost and need help but I have no idea where to start, or how I even got here." which I love for representation of who Sarah is as a character and even just as a person.  Good morning / Afternoon Everyone! Today we will be going over the movies and shows that have inspired Her Slow Disappearance and portrays the characters the way we wanted to represent them to the audience.  Some examples of the movies I would like to in a sense "mimic" would be the following (I will also be including why they are good references): - Beautiful Boy (2018) 1. Parent–child perspective -  The story focuses heavily on the   parent’s emotional devastation . - It shows addiction not just as self-destruction, but as something that fractures family relationships. 2. Naturalistic cinematography -  Soft lighting, handheld camera work, muted color grading. - Makes everything feel intimate and painfully real. - Great inspiration if you want your short film to feel grounded and raw rather than stylized.                                  3.
