Movie Poster (Week Eight)

Today I had the very important job of creating out movie poster! This was my first time ever really creating something such as this so I was very excited to see the end result.

Because I have never created a movie poster before, I did a bit of research online finding examples and little cheat sheets that reminded me of what to include.

I used Harry Potter (a classic that I adore~) as my baseline. Zooming in and out trying I tried to figure out what some of the smaller text said to keep my finished product a bit more accurate, but because I was having a bit of trouble I found a draft (included below) to help explain the different pieces that go into movie posters and their significance.

And this is the finished product, TADA! -

I was able to find the rating insignia online, making it easy to copy and paste it without having to create my own. I also used three different fonts to add allure, in hopes of capturing more attention with its variety. I used this photo from a different assignment I completed during this course, "Think like a cinematographer".  Sarah is surrounded by darkness and her face turned away from the only source of light, seemingly rejecting it, her expression signifying her true feelings. This was all done in hopes of properly portraying the obstacles her character will face throughout the film, and the harsh reality of what happens after she refused her mothers guiding light one too many times.
