Introduction Post

Hello! 

My name is Eva Revelli di Beaumont, and I thought I should do a little introduction post before I start posting more regularly about my journey in Media Studies

This is me and my family,
my father Oscar, my mother Carolina, my oldest sister Isabella, and then me looking sly on my mothers lap.
I grew up in my fathers ancestral home in Torino, Italy. I was constantly surrounded with different medias of art. Lion sculptures that I would play pretend with in the afternoons, paintings the size of a 12 by 12 wall, car design blueprints and models I wasn't allowed to touch - everything around me was art and I couldn't help but admire it.

I always loved music and cartoons growing up, the harmonious notes of my piano, and the nostalgia filled episodes of Phineas and Ferb were always highlights of my day. I learned to wake up everyday and reach for the stars, not literally of course, but to try my best everyday to take at least one step towards my future dreams.

I would say my favorite and most influential forms of Media would be photography, movies, and video games


Fortnite and Genshin would probably be my most played, growing up and even now getting home from school and hoping onto the game with my friends was the most exciting time of day





Avatar was always my favorite show and is what actually sparked my interest in animating and cartoon styled art
Surprisingly, the narrative tone in which the story was told also influenced my desire to write my own stories.

~ Midterm Connection ~ Good morning! I just realized that I never showed you all me and Rachael's Midterm... You may all be thinking, "So what Eva, we don't care about your midterm-" WRONG! you totally should because it was the inspiration for this film (more like the original of Her Slow Disappearance )  We loved the concept and so did our class, however they all had a ton of feedback, mainly that we were focusing on the wrong things in the short time frame we had. Their main concerns were that while they loved our bold and initial showing of drug abuse, we stranded slightly from the plot and didn't cover all the things they would have preferred to see, i.e: allotted to much time to the kitchen scene.  Well that's all! Significance of the Shot Duration (Week Five)

~ Significance of the Shot Duration ~ Hi there! I thought that it might be a good idea to go over the significance of the shot duration in Her Slow Disappearance , You'll notice that in the film, the speed at which cuts are made and the general pacing of the film as a whole reflect the mood and emotions of Sarah throughout it. The faster cuts, can mean two things, either it is to represent the speeding up of time as a side effect of Sarah's drug use, or to represent high emotions between the character on the screen and the situation they would be presently facing. For example, in the rapid POV shots between Sarah and her mother in the beginning of the film, emotions are high, Sarah is scared and frustrated about the missing presence of her drugs - she is desperately searching for her next high -  and her mother is anxious and nervous, worried for her daughters future and questioning her decisions and beliefs as she discovers her daughters drug baggy.  In comparison the slow, d...

Project Plan/Storyline (Week One)

Project Plan/Storyline  The name of the "movie" is going to be Her Slow Disappearance. The story will revolve around a teenage girl named Sarah. Sarah is experiencing severe depression and to quell all of her intense emotions she submerges herself in drugs and alcohol, however the drugs will be more prevalently shown in the 2 minute movie beginning.  Story Board: First 3 panels depict the opening scene where Sarah is discovered dead in the shower after overdosing while panels 4-6, follow the beginning of a flash back of how the audience got to that moment with her lying on the shower floor. Panels 7-10 show Sarah discovering her usual drug ration is empty, in these scenes it will be vital for Rachael Kohler, the actor who plays Sarah, to show the extreme distress that Sarah feels in this moment of uncertainty.
